What is mixing?

For many people, it's a subliminal art that carries a message of nonstop dancing and partying which became popular during the late 1970’s. A DJ matches the musical tempo of one song and plays it in synchronization with a song that is already playing. As digital DJing technology became widely available from around 2003, looping sections of a song (for example the chorus or a drum solo) and the use of cue point markers allows a DJ to literally remix on the fly with sections of different songs.

Mixing is one surefire way for a DJ to keep the party alive and the dance floor packed. For example, a mixing DJ could mix an 80's party classic by Micheal Jackson together with the catchy vocals of the latest chart release. This keeps people from different generations and musical backrounds together on the dancefloor.
